Get Involved

You would like to get involved? Awesome. There are many things you can do to improve the lives of mentally ill people in Cameroon. Read the following paragraphs for ideas on what you can do.

Donate

We are a small not-for-profit organisation and are currently entirely self-funded. We want to change the lives of as many mentally-ill Cameroonians as possible and need financial resources in order to do so.  Please consider supporting our organisation as a donor! Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a huge difference and goes fully towards funding our high priority and ongoing projects. At the moment, we are in urgent need of funds to scale the World Mental Health Day 2023 Mobile Caravan event. You can donate to Hand On Heart Cameroon online here

Cooperate

Are you working as a therapist or part of another organisation? If so, and if you are also enthusiastic about fundamentally improving the living conditions of mentally ill people in Cameroon, tell us. Send us an email or a message using the contact form. The community of working psychologists in Cameroon is one of the main pillars for helping mentally ill people and the wider the network of psychologists and partner orgnisations the higher the impact. We would be delighted to work in collaboration. Just let us know.

Raise awareness

Our environment has a crucial impact on our mental state. The society we live in, our surrounding, friends and family influence highly what we think, how we feel and behave. Thus, if the people around us are ignorant about a certain mental illness, if they don’t know that a specific behaviour is caused by it and that this is normal for people suffering from that illness, this might lead to rejection which in turn enhances the severity of the mental illness. For a mental illness to improve, it is, therefore, crucial that our social environment is aware of its symptoms. Only this makes appropriate social interactions possible. Especially interactions with family and close relatives have a vast impact on the development of the person suffering from a mental disease. You don’t know how to start?
